Lester of Manhattan, Kansas, born in Horton, Kansas, who passed away on January 27, 2021, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Lester and Anna Hooper (Saville); his close friend Olive; his wife Olive Shoup; his children, Joy Barnett (Mike) of Scott City, Sherri Hooper of Manhattan, Wendy Skrdlant (Gary) of Manhattan, J. Lester Hooper, Jr. and Terry Hooper of Manhattan; his grandchildren, Jennifer Murphy (Bill) of Scott City, Maranda Barnett of Scott City, Olivia Lehmann (John) of Westphalia, Jonathan Skrdlant of Topeka, Joseph Hooper of Irving, TX and Marisa Hooper (John King) of Englewood, OH; his great grandchildren, Ashdynn and Kyzer Lehmann of Westphalia; his brothers, George Hooper (Cornelia) of Washington, D. C. and Keith Hooper (Karen) of Northville, MI; and his sister-in-law Norma Lowell (Dean) of Redwood City, CA. He was also cherished by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
J. Lester married Olive Shoup on May 1, 1954, at Wesley Foundation. As with many men of great renown, his bond with Olive was the foundation for his pursuits in work, civic, and charitable endeavors.
