With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Eleanor Ruth McEwen (Manhattan, Kansas), born in Republic, Kansas, who passed away on October 22, 2020 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Mildred Newsham McClure and William H. McClure, Sr.; her husband Donald McEwen; her stepfather Ervin Williams; and her brother William H. McClure, Jr..
She is survived by: her brother Billy; her aunt Bertha McClure; her friends, Go You Go and Donald; her children, Charles McEwen (Carolyn) of Belleville, Nancy Knopp (Joe) of Manhattan and Pat McCune (Greg) of Manhattan; her grandchildren, Scott McEwen of Wichita, Matt McEwen (Kristen) of Scottsdale, AZ, Katie Knopp Gaetke (Matt) of Washington, DC, Andy Knopp (Jenny) of Seoul, Mitchell Knopp (Catherine Borod) of Jersey City, NJ, Eric McCune (Megan Dwyer) of Kyle, TX and Sarah McCune of Austin, TX.; and her great grandchildren, Devan McEwen of Lebo, KS, Kylie, Logan McEwen of Scottsdale, AZ, Meghan, Anna, John Gaetke of Washington, DC and Alexander Knopp of Seoul.
In September of 2014 she moved into Lyle House at Meadowlark Hills where the excellent staff led by Director Sherri Smith provided loving care for her for six years, including the six months of isolation from family she endured because of Covid 19.
