He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Eugene and Betty Hostetler Purkeypyle; and his brother Glen Purkeypyle. He is survived by: his wife Judy C. Purkeypyle of Madison, Kansas; his children, Shwan Purkeypyle of Price, Jeremy Purkeypyle of Herrington, Kansas and Jessica Purkeypyle of Italy; his stepchildren, Darrell Moody, Charles Clawson, Sheldon Davis, Stacy Davis and Wendy Longberry; his grandchildren, Adrianna Purkeypyle, Cheyenne Purkeypyle, Hunter Purkeypyle, Star Purkeypyle, Sky Purkeypyle, Candice Colette and Zach Weixilman; and his great grandchild Natalie Colette.
