She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Smith and Arlene Heldt Smith; her son Brian Hess; her granddaughter Allison Hess; and her siblings, Geraline Elliot, Paula Capps and Dennis.
She is survived by: her children, Dr. Eric (Kari), Stephanie (John Calderwood) of Emporia and Jennifer Hess of Eureka, Kansas; her grandchildren, Drew, Aubree Hess, Jake Calderwood, Ashton Hess and Holden Hess Wilson; her siblings, Linda Stover (Richard) of Sterling, Michael Smith of Hutchinson, Cynthia Morales (Max) of Lyons, Rodney Smith (Rhonda) of Jonesboro, Robert Smith of Hutchinson and Timothy Smith of Hutchinson; and her family Dolly Madison. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
