He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wilbur and Hazel Petersen Otto; his son Karl Otto II; and his brothers, Milton and Harley Otto.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Pendlay (Greg) of Emporia, KS, Jeff Otto (Judy) of Wichita, KS and Mark Otto (Lisa) of Grand Canyon, AZ; his daughter-in-law Carol Coffman of Emporia, KS; his sister Helen Dorris of Lamar, CO; and his grandchildren, Meredith Wagner (Jake) of Americus, KS, Michelle Pendlay of Emporia, KS, Sean Otto (Amy) of Kansas City, KS, Aaron Otto (Molly) of Emporia, KS, Brandon Otto (Anessa), Drew Otto (Brandi) of Lyons, KS, Mark Tyler Otto (Riley) of Marysville, OH and Jenna Otto of Grand Canyon, AZ. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, Rice County 4-H, or Hetlinger Developmental Services, Emporia in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
