He was predeceased by: his daughter JoAnn Speer; his parents, William and Margaret; and his siblings, James Elder and Joan Elder.
He is survived by: his wife Mary; his daughter Deborah Becker (Dwight); and his nieces, Deborah Stenzel (Tim) and Karen Waddell (Mike). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
