She was predeceased by: her father Delmer Gier; her parents-in-law, Richard R. and Fae Vaupel; her sister-in-law Arlene Vaupel; and her niece Julie Gier.
She is survived by: her mother Norma Jean Gier (Cooper) of Hunter, Kansas; her husband Rick Vaupel of Lucas; her sons, Michael (Cammie Vaupel) of St. John, Kansas and Matthew (Erin Vaupel) of Ellinwood, Kansas; her granddaughters, Chloe and Ensley Vaupel of Ellinwood, Kansas; her siblings, Lloyd Gier, Dell Gier (Cheryl) of Sylvan Grove, Kansas, Joni Bunker (Bill) of St. John and June Henkelman (Chad) of Valley Center, Kansas; and her brother-in-law Steve Vaupel (Deb Snook) of Russell, Kansas. She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces.
In honor of Phyllis's life, memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Trinity Lutheran Church of Hunter, Kansas or the Post Rock Community Foundation in care of Hall Chapel P.O. Box 37, Lincoln, KS 67455.
