He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert LeRoy and Jane Kathleen Yocom Smyres; and his brother Mike Smyres. He is survived by: his nephew Troy Smyres (Kristy) of Windom; his great-nephew Trevor Smyres (Katie); his niece Shelley Caldarera (Tom) of Andover; his great-nephew David; his great-niece Natalie Schekall; his sister-in-law Cheryl Smyres of Wichita; and also, Josie and Emily Engelman (Ben).

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
