He was predeceased by: his parents, John Malpert and Karen Malpert (Bach); his wife Janet Werner; his brother Kenneth Malpert; his parents-in-law, Albert and Esther Werner; and his sisters-in-law, Jane Malpert and Jan Werner.

He is survived by: his daughters, Dawn Rohr (Kendal) of Canton, KS, Avona Wennihan (Scott) of Columbus, NE and Meredith Pohlmann (Wayne) of Deshler, NE; his brother Merlin Malpert (Barbara) of Nixa, MO; his brother-in-law Ronald Werner of Poplar Grove, IL.; and his grandchildren, Bret (Zoe), Scott Rohr (Tiffany), Miranda Jackson (Todd), Whitney Bayerl (AJ), Emily Pohlmann, Megan Mason (Zach), Jared Pohlmann (Cheyanna) and Ragan Pohlmann.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, the Lindsborg Lions Club, and Sunflower Terrace, care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

“I heard of your dad's passing, and wanted to send my condolences. My mom moved into Sunflower Terrace earlier this year. Mr. Malpert sat at her dining room table, and I had the chance to chat with him on several occasions. My daughter is a pharmacist and I am a nurse, so I enjoyed visiting with him about his career and many other things. I appreciated reading his obituary; he lived a full life and I'm glad our paths briefly crossed. Lori Penner, Clay Center, KS”
