She was predeceased by: her parents, Arvid Nelson and Clara Nelson (Gahnstrom) of Bridgeport, KS.; and her husband Ben Handlin. She is survived by: her children, Dr. Mark Handlin (Cathy) of McPherson, KS, Rachel Handlin (Mike Beert) of Rockford, IL and Daryl Handlin (Stephanne Seals) of Albany, OR.; her grandchildren, Mandi Helmer (Jake), Aaron Handlin, Antonea, Allegra Carson and Aria Beert; her great grandchild Walter Helmer; her brothers, Jim Nelson (Marsha) of Lindsborg, KS and Wendell Nelson (Pam) of Princeton, IL.; and her cousin Betty Ludwig.
