He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Varon Jones Shanklin and Martha Starnes Shanklin; his wife Martha Carol Daley; his children, Beth Shanklin of Lenexa, Trish Pfanstiel (Eric) of Overland Park and Robert Shanklin (Angie) of Lenexa; and his grandchildren, CJ Pfanstiel, Abigail Shanklin, Grace Pfanstiel, Grant Shanklin and Anna Shanklin.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Deaf Ministry at the Overland Park Church of Christ.
