He was predeceased by: his wife Teresa Thummel (Santee); and his parents, Helen Irene Thummel and Bernard Thomas Thummel. He is survived by: his children, Brigitte Loos (Keith), Melissa Rupert (Mark), Jill Schramp (Joe), Rachelle Wieneke and Daniel Thummel; his grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Kaitlin, Michael, Matthew, Bradley, Patrick, Henry, Ruben, Erika and Kelan; and his sisters, Marjorie Thummel and Jean Thummel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association - Heart of America Chapter.
