He was predeceased by: his siblings, Hazel Myrick, Eunice Vegors, Orville Howell, Opal Hutchins and Joseph Lee Howell Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Nell Howell; his children, Mike Howell (Brenda), Keith Howell, Bryon Howell (Jeri) and Pat Howell; and his sister Peggy Hazel. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
