He was predeceased by: his parents, Faye Abijah and Marguerite Rowe (Schaffer); and his siblings, Eleanor, Shirley and Craig.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou; his sons, Brent of Shawnee and Tom (Peggy) of Leawood; his grandchildren, Alexander, Nicholas and Kelly; and his brother Paul. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
