He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hadel and Julia Hadel; his former wife Terese Nicholson Hadel; and his children, William J. Hadel, Richard J. Hadel and Mary Beth Hadel Giles.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, John Hadel, Teresa Keegan, Julie Hendrickson (Matt), Andrea Hadel Shigouri (Nick), Garreth Hippe (Toland) and Morgan Hippe (Lindsey); and his sister Judy Reichmeier. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Jesuit Missions.
