He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Schmidling and Helen Schmidling (Hattok). He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, Stacy Vardiman (Chris) of Lansing and Craig Schmidling (Anne) of Shawnee, Kan.; his grandchildren, Lauren Sample (Trenton) and Ben Vardiman; and his daughter Maura Davis (Tyler). He is also survived by his family, friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the R. L. Leintz Funeral Home (4701 10th Ave, Leavenworth, KS 66048). A Mass was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Saint Joseph Church (306 N Broadway St, Leavenworth, KS 66048).
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Tunnels to Towers Foundation or St. Joseph Church.
