He is survived by: his children, Brent Sanger (Carol) and Brooke Steenhard (Scott); his siblings, Phillip Sanger (Clara), Rose Fisher, Barbara Ferguson, Frances Wohletz and Johannah Wohletz (Louis); his grandchildren, Jennifer Jarrard (Tye), Emma Steenhard, Ainsley Steenhard, Carter Steenhard, Lynn Hawkins and Aaron Hawkins; and his great grandchild Amy.
The family suggests memorials in memory of George be to either the Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
