He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Ray and Katherine Ray; and his daughter-in-law Kerry Ray. He is survived by: his wife Sharon L. Redford; his children, Craig Ray, Kim Ray of Lawrence, KS and Mark Ray of Baldwin City, KS; his grandchildren, Chad Ray (Chelsea) and Chase Ray of Silver Lake, KS; his stepgrandchildren, Skye Reid (Christian) of Topeka, KS and Derick Jaroscak (Annie) of Colorado Springs, CO; his great grandchild Reagan Ray; his stepgrandson Daniel Jaroscak; his siblings, Betty Fenstemaker (Alan), Violet Thygesen (Wayne) and Gary Ray; and his sister-in-law Carolyn Pippert. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
