He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles and Essie (Pouppirt); his wife Edith Douglas; his son-in-law Clifford Downing; and his siblings, Maxine Coker, Paul and Melvin.
He is survived by: his daughter Verna Kay Downing; his granddaughter Eryn Downing-Ridinger (Justin); his great grandchildren, Camden and Trenton; and also, Larry Oelschlaeger and Lydia Leon (family: Ashley Oelschlaeger).
