He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Philip Rankin and Josephine Louise Rankin (Edmonds); his brother Gary E. Rankin; and his sister-in-law Patricia Rankin. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Shaffer of Virginia; his children, David P. Rankin (Dina) and Kathryn A. Vincent (Michael); his brother-in-law W. L. "Butch" Shaffer (Judi); his nephews, Bill Shaffer (Janice) and Scott Rankin; his niece Dianne Thomas (Fred); his grandchildren, Abigail Sundin (Kyle), Samuel Vincent, Joshua Rankin (Jordan), Laura Gose (Logan) and Deborah Bogner (Michael); and his great grandchildren, Eliza Sundin, Lillie Sundin and Luke Bogner. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Visiting Nurses of Douglas County Hospice.
