He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, David Emde and Phyllis Emde; his wife Judith Zotika; his daughter Sara Emde (Cristian Arancibia); his granddaughters, Mia and Ava of Topeka, KS.; his sister Karla Rossow (Fred); his niece Evelyn Rush (Ryan) of Cedar Rapids, IA; and his pets, Suzy and Buddy. He was also cherished by sister-in-law, nephew, niece, and four great-nephews and nieces.
