He was predeceased by: his parents, John Spurgeon and Eloise Spurgeon (Dunphy). He is survived by: his wife Karla; his children, Marika Taylor (Adam), Brenna Bliven (Patrick) and Patrick Spurgeon; his brothers, Dave and Tom Spurgeon; his grandchildren, Ainsley, Harvey, Finley and Archer; his parents-in-law, Hal and Eleanor Berkley; and his siblings-in-law, Karen Deckert (Scott), Jeff Berkley (Denise) and Calvin Berkley (Tina). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
