She was predeceased by: her parents, Marshall Churchbaugh and Letha Churchbaugh; her spouse Gene Van Hoesen; and her son-in-law Les Harrod. She is survived by: her siblings, Carol Smell of Ottawa, KS and Ron Churchbaugh of Shawnee, KS; her sister-in-law Marion Sullivan of St Marys, OH; her nephew Robert Van Hoesen (Barbara) of Tucson, AZ; her niece Cheryl Harrod of Lawrence, KS.; and her grandchildren, Matthew Van (Courtney), Emily Ford (Jason) of Overland Park, KS, Lee Ann Van Hoesen of Tucson, AZ and Megan Goff (Troy) of Lawrence, KS.

Memorial contributions may be made in JoAnn's name to Visiting Nurses Association or LMH Health Foundation – Volunteer Services and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044. Warren-McElwain provides a full range of services including burial, cremation in our own crematory, entombment, or body donation.
