He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Thornton Hemphill and Helen Hemphill (Cleveland); his wife Carolyn Laing; his daughters, Wendy Stauffer (Ron) of Lawrence, Jennifer Hemphill of Lawrence and Gretchen Windholz (Tim) of Lawrence; his granddaughter Anna van Haandel of Lake Villa, IL; his daughters, Ryan Stauffer, Heidi Webb and Hannah Windholz; his great grandchildren, Jasper van Haandel, Sydney van Haandel and Milo Webb; his sister Charlene Fritzel (Lawrence); and his half-brothers, Richard Hemphill of De Soto, KS, Roger Hemphill of Overland Park, KS. and David Hemphill of Lawrence.
