He is survived by: his wife Mary Pat; his children, Charlie Himmelberg (Stephanie), Lucy, Adele, Ann Zimmerman (Matt) and Abby Ybay (JJ); his grandchildren, Natalie, Libby, Mary Luther (John), Madeline Combs (Tyler), Jack, Charlie Luther, Joe Himmelberg (Karla), Burke, Zoe, Jada, Quinn, Patrick Himmelberg (Kristin), Kate, Hank and Gracie; his great grandchild Hudson Charles Combs; and his sister Martha Callahan of Longwood, Florida..
Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Corpus Christi Church (6001 Bob Billings Pkwy, Lawrence, KS 66049). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A reception was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Lawrence Country Club (400 Country Club Terrace, Lawrence, KS 66049).
Memorial contributions are suggested to Corpus Christi Catholic Church or the Charles J. and Mary Pat Himmelberg Math Graduate Student Award, established in 2017, c/o the KU Endowment Association. Cinelli Family Foundation provides $10 million gift to support KU Cancer Center.
