She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest C. Nelson and Lela Belle Nelson (Taylor); and her brothers, Winton Ray Nelson and C. Nelson (Allene Nelson). She is survived by: her spouse Willie Burl Blackburn; her children, Lonnie Blackburn (Joyce) and Denise Blackburn; her grandson BJ Blackburn (Hannah); her great grandchildren, Ainsley of Lawrence and Gracie of Lawrence; her niece Tamara Nelson Fultz; and her nephew Marty Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Carlene's name to the Lawrence Humane Society and Midland Hospice may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
