He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Schaffer and Olinda Schaffer (Obholz); his former wife Ilene Schaffer; and his brothers, Virgil, Jerry, Dennis and Irvin Schaffer.
He is survived by: his wife Karolyn M. Schaffer; his children, Charnell Breshears (John) of La Crosse, Kevin Schaffer (Anita Shepard) of Bison and Laurie Post (Kevin) of Lincoln, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Josh Breshears, Jonna Skinner (Tim), Emma Post and Kayla Post; his great grandchildren, Preslie, Gabbie, Josie Breshears, Desmond and Cooper Skinner; and his siblings, Virginia Dreiling of Hays, Paul Schaffer of California, Joseph Schaffer of California, Kenneth Schaffer of California, Gladys Haugaard of Illinois and Mary Ann Gariepy of Derby.
