He was predeceased by: his parents, Mike Hammerschmidt and Anna Sander Hammerschmidt; and his siblings, Richard, Norbert, Alvin, Fridolin "Fred", Elmer, Silvina Pfaff, Helen Mohl, Mary Weigel, Irene Pfannenstiel and Armella Hammerschmidt.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Staab; and his children, Ronald, Mark, Karen Johnson, Lori Young and Lisa Hammerschmidt. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
