She is survived by: her nieces and nephews, James Robert Haas, Jr. (Pam), Timothy John Haas (Kelley), Bud Hansbury (Andrea), Susan Haas Jones (Steve) and Cathy Strapp (Ed).
She met her husband Henry Brewster "Bruce' Hansbury in Milwaukee. Bruce served in the US Navy on a PT boat in the South Pacific. Ruth and Bruce were married on January 27, 1946 after Bruce returned from the Service. Ruth was preceded in death by Bruce, who passed in 2003. Ruth and Bruce lived in New Jersey for many years before moving to Kansas City to be closer to family. Ruth lived at Lakeview Village and enjoyed being part of the Lakeview community for 22 years, she made many long-time friends. Ruth was always passionate about her church. Early in her career she worked as the church secretary and taught Sunday School. Since moving to Lakeview Village, she has been an active member of Lenexa United Methodist Church. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Lakeview Village Heritage Activity Center, 9100 Park St. Lenexa, KS 66215. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lakeview Village Foundation 9100 Park St. Lenexa, KS 66215. Ruth will be missed greatly by her loving family and many friends.
