He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Harold Thoman and Jearl G Thoman (Kennedy); his former wife Nettie Jean Carr; his wife Wilma Jean Hopkins; his son Dennis Lee Thoman; and his stepdaughter Rita Speilman.
He is survived by: his children, Gregory Thoman (Kathy) of Jamestown, Lowell Thoman (Mary) of Concordia and Lisa Mosher (Steve) of Clyde; his stepchildren, Brad Hopkins, Kent Hopkins, Jana Huffman, Lisa Daniels, Tina Huff and Karen Strait; and his brother Larry Thoman (Lorrie) of Arizona. He is also survived by many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and other family members.
