He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe M. Duarte and Mary Duarte (Soliz); his brother Richard Duarte; and his brother-in-law Richard Tvedt. He is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Everett Duarte (Laura), Joe Duarte (Jennifer), Ashleigh Duarte, Amelia Black (Colby), Evelyn Jones (Andrew), Angelia Roney, Michael Roney (Kellie) and Stephanie Hobert (Brian); and his siblings, Mary Jean Tvedt and Christopher Duarte. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren.
