He was predeceased by: his father William L. Simpson; his brothers, Douglas K. Lieurance and Allen Ray "Bubby" Lieurance; his stepfather Joe Shields; and his grandson Gage Ryan Genoble.
He is survived by: his mother Melba Shields (Burris); his wife Shari Simpson; his children, John Simpson, William Simpson and Sheina Bell; and his brother William L. "Bill" Simpson Jr.. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
