He is survived by: his wife Karen Lynn Newkirk (Heald) of Independence; his son Philip Newkirk (Heather) of Neodesha; his brother Jonathan Newkirk (Carol) of Osawotomie; his brother-in-law John Burgett; and his grandchildren, Nora, Stella, Ellie and Jack. He is also survived by nephews, niece, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
