He was predeceased by: his parents, Mae Esther Townsend (Otis) and Jesse Shelton; and his spouse Rev. Johnetta C. Shelton (Brown). He is survived by: his stepmother Barbara Shelton; his siblings, Thurman Eugene Shelton of Leesburg, Florida and Paulette V. Baldwin of Kansas City, Missouri; and his children, Elder Angela D. Cherry (Donnel) of Hampton, Dr. Andrea D. Hendricks (Terrance) of Lees Summit, Thornton E. Shelton, Jr. of Columbus and Anita D. Shelton of Plano. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
