With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John T. Updegraff (Independence, Kansas), born in Sigourney, Iowa, who passed away on November 25, 2023 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Curtis Gavitt; his wife Nell Drucilla Ragan; his son Mark Ragan Updegraff; and his siblings, Rachel, Hannah, David, Nathan, Ambrose and Josiah.
He is survived by: his siblings, Rosalind, Mary, Rebecca, James and Curtis; his son John T. Updegraff, Jr.; his daughter-in-law Peggy S. Updegraff; his grandchildren, Megan E. Updegraff and J. T. Updegraff (Tracy); his great grandchildren, Wyatt John and Charlotte Belle; his grandson Curtis M. Updegraff (Marena); his great grandchildren, Liam and C. G.; and his grandchildren, Amanda Massena, Derek Massena, Ragan Updegraff and Kevin Updegraff.
Memorial donations may be made in the memory of John to the First United Methodist Church, 200 South Pennsylvania Ave, Independence, Kansas or Boy Scouts of America.
