It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Fred Charles McElroy of Independence, Kansas, born in Topeka, Kansas, who passed away on June 6, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hayden Elwood and Ailene McElroy (Kindred); his granddaughter April; and his siblings, Paul, Bobby, Lloyd, Junior, Bill, Anita Rae McElroy and Emma Lea Grurlkey.

He is survived by: his wife Gayla Rosenbaum; his children, Hayden McElroy (Lisa), Onis McElroy (Julie), Longton of Kansas, Gina McElroy, Suzie Hardiman (Steve), Dianna Sutton, Jane Page (Virgil), Emily Parker (Kevin) and Christina Barton (Brad); and his siblings, Brent McElroy (Rosemary), Tommy McElroy (Cindy), Roberta Taylor, Annie Wright (Pat) and Doris Robinson. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren.
