He was predeceased by: his father Alfred "Al" Hammersmith; and his father-in-law Don Gottschalk. He is survived by: his children, Owen of Hutchinson, Eli of Hutchinson and Anna of Hutchinson; his family Las Vegas; his mother Mary Hammersmith (Hammerschmidt) of Hays; his wife Megan Gottschalk-Hammersmith; his siblings, Joe Hammersmith (Karen) of Hutchinson, Mike Hammersmith (Angie) of Hutchinson and Sarah Balthazor (Steve) of Hays; his mother-in-law Midge Gottschalk of Hutchinson; his siblings-in-law, Peggy Gottschalk-Rust of Hutchinson, Jennifer Lepentis (Bill) of Kansas City and Mike Gottschalk of Minnesota; and his nieces and nephews, Mariah, Morgan, Alex, Becca, Isaac Hammersmith, Philippe Manga, Sophia, Evan, Lydia Balthazor, Lauren, Joshua Rust and Eleni Lepentis. He is also survived by his wife, children, family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be submitted to the Eli Hammersmith Trust, in support of Tom and Megan's middle child who was born with a developmental delay.
