We are sad to announce that on April 27, 2023, at the age of 79, Rodney Eugene Mears in Hutchinson, Kansas, born in Minot, North Dakota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Mears and Katherine Mears (Reynolds); his sisters, Lynn Landwehr and Betty Mears; and his daughter Sabrina Martin.

He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Cullison; his children, Vulla Dusek (Dennis), Barbara Hamilton (Duane), Joe Bodine (Brianna), Johnnie Bodine (Leslie), Zachariah Cullison-Mears (Ashlyn), Shelby Cullison-Mears (Allison), Sandy Bishop (Gary) and Shawn Mears; his grandchildren, Dennyelle Dusek-Gray (Logan), Dennin Dusek-Orona (Chano), Deeter Dusek (Darrian), Victoria Pruitt (J. D.), Travis Hamilton (Emily), Brittany Hamilton (Keaton), Brandy Bodine (Chance), Evan Bodine, Ashlyn Bodine, Jaydon Mosier, Kynsington Mosier, Hartleigh Mosier, Maizlyn Bodine, Treston Bodine (Brooklyn), Noah Ratzlaff, Justina Friesen, Samuel Friesen, Destiny Neill, Kyrstan Gumble, Angela Frank and Stephen Bishop; his niece Brandi Brase (Chris); and his siblings-in-law, John A. Cullison, Bennie S. Cullison, Donna Lightsy, Nina Kocher, Lisa Goff, Pattie Norris (Buddy) and Teresa Foltz. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family has asked that any memorial contributions be made to the funeral chapel to help defray funeral expenses.

“I was a friend of Rodney when he lived in Des Moines (1965-1968). He was a great guy. I really enjoyed hunting and fishing with him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. We both moved away from Des Moines, but I was able to find him about three years ago and had an enjoyable phone conversation with him. Paul Oksnee”
