He was predeceased by: his parents, Emma Bernard-Castor and Lanier W. Phillips; his grandparents, Warren and Jessie Bernard; his siblings, Bobby Jenkins, Phyllis, Mary 'Missy Bailey, Denise Phillips and Teresa Benford; his nephews, Curtis Jenkins and Joshua Haines; his aunt Maxine Hill; and his uncles, Wilbur Bernard, Leonard Bernard, Henry Bernard, John Bernard, Samuel Bernard, Kenneth Bernard and Donald Bernard.

He is survived by: his aunts, Lucille Adams of Hutchinson and Myrna Bernard of Hutchinson; his uncle Charles Bernard of Fresno, CA; his cousin Maurcena 'Marty' Lee (Standley) of Olathe, KS; and his brothers, Danny Bernard of Hutchinson, Dennis Phillips of Portland, OR and Michael Phillips of Portland, OR. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
