He is survived by: his children, James (Christina Smith) of Hutchinson and Jeanette (Bryant Williams) of Hutchinson; his siblings, Gary Ward of Arizona, Earlene Shaw and Nell Waterman of West Virginia; and his grandchildren, Brock, Aaron, Lance, Andrew Smith (Marcella), Bryce Smith (Jennifer) and Jessica Deason (Malcolm). He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
