She was predeceased by: her parents, Miles M. Smith and Esther M. Smith (Sargent); her husband Edward D. Hays; her son-in-law Ron Barnhart; and her sisters, Etha McCaskey and Fern Fredrick.
She is survived by: her children, Sherry Barnhart and Steve Hays (Robbie); and her grandchildren, Rhonda Kretzer (Gary), Scott Barnhart (Shari), Travis Hays and Katie Bryan (Luke). She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
