He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertlum Stokes and Lois Stokes (Ryan); his wife Joyce Appling; his daughters, Tammy and Lisa; his siblings, William, Virginia "Gee", Allen, Harlen, Robert, Donald, James, John, Mary, Bertlum "Junior", Darrell, Samuel and Linda; and his siblings-in-law, Gary Appling and Jane Snyder.
He is survived by: his sons, Dean (Carla) and Donnie Stokes (Kati); his grandchildren, Sam, Chloe, Kayla, Sonia, Krissy, Hannah and Charlie; and his siblings-in-law, Carol Voutsinas, Mary Lou Stotler and Jim Appling. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
