It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vera Jean Stoops of Hugoton, Kansas, born in Dodge City, Kansas, who passed away on September 28, 2022, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Alexander and Mary Grace Drew (Milburn); her husband Lee; and her sisters, Laura Bressler and Emma Berniece Musgrove.
She is survived by: her children, Vera Lee Zabel (Loren) of Hugoton, Gene Stoops of Arizona City, Sherry Meitler of Hugoton and Gerald "Keb" Stoops (Carol) of Hugoton; her grandchildren, Erika Shelman, Matt Zabel, Scott Meitler, Kari Stover, Ryan Stoops and Sean Stoops; and her great grandchildren, Abigail, Kaden, Haley, Ethan Zabel, Kaylee, Mykenna Shelman, Laela Meitler, Emma Jo Stover, Isaac, Eli Meitler, Kylie Christenson, Leah, Myla Bridgewater and Evie Stoops.
Memorials in memory of Vera may be given to Steven County/Hugoton Community Project.
