He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. Schaefer and Gertrude M. Schuetz Schaefer; his children, Barbara Schaefer, Cindy Schaefer and Daryl Schaefer; and his siblings, Vernon, Lloyd, Howard, Kenneth Schaefer, Thelma McGee, Wilma Peregrine, Mary Kaman and Teresa Richling.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Ellingson; his children, Mike Schaefer (Karen) of Silver Lake, Kansas and Connie Szocs (Alex) of Topeka, Kansas; and his sister Rose Willis of Horton, Kansas. He is also survived by three grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery fund and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
