He was predeceased by: his parents, Quentin Schmitz and James Shaughnessy; and his brothers, Steve and William Shum. He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Pitsch; his children, Joe Shum (Candice) of Shawnee, KS, Jim Shum (Amy) and Katy Smith (Jarrod) of Frankfort, KS; his sisters, Cindy Graham (Tom) and Marie Maloney (Rob) of Wichita, KS; his sister-in-law Donna Shum of Stafford, NY; and his grandchildren, Ruthie, Jai, Bodhi Shum, Lydia, Charlie, Layla Shum, Colson, Myla and Deacon Smith.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
