He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Muriel Dorothy Johnson and Reuben Emmanuel Bergren; his former wives, Eva Lavern Robison and Wilma Darlene Huffman Ricke; his wife Darlene Bergren; his children, Joni Lynette Sterling (Steve) of Alva, Lori Annette Campbell (Kevin) of Arkansas City and Kerry John Bergren of Wichita; his stepdaughters, Crista McMillin, Teresa Scott (Bruce), Kathy Lynch and Terri Davis (Brian); his grandchildren, Darbi Lynn Hinde, Kianne Lee Campbell, Kacee Annette Campbell and Brandt Steven Sterling; and his great grandchildren, Sawyer Sterling Hinde and Lincoln Calvin Hinde. He was also cherished by 16 step grandchildren.
