James R. Meitner Obituary

With solemn reverence, we commemorate James R. Meitner of Hoisington, Kansas, whose life came to an end on October 29, 2024 at the age of 74, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert C. Meitner and Loyola A. Meitner Steiner (Reichuber). He is survived by: his wife Celeste Prosser of Hoisington; his children, Heather R. Barleen (Doug) of Wichita, Chad Meitner (Sarah) of Hays and James P. "JP" Meitner (Leslie Jo) of Topeka; his grandchildren, Sean Barleen (Mariah Jack) of Wichita, Rachel Barleen of Hays, Amanda Barleen of Wichita, Julia of Hays, Henry of Hays, Charles of Hays, Leo of Hays, Abe Meitner of Hays, Preston of Topeka and Madeline Meitner of Topeka; and his siblings, Shirley Schugart (John) of Mokelumne Hill and Rocky Meitner (Connie) of Olmitz. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home (415 N Main St, Hoisington, KS 67544). A prayer was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (108 E 5th St, Hoisington, KS 67544).
