He was predeceased by: his parents, Cordrey Spires and Maudie E. Spires (Anglin); his wife Linda F. Smith; and his siblings, Briace Spires, Nadine Beeman, Melba Maggard, Berniece Whitaker, Twilla Brack, LaVern Spires and Basil Jantz.
He is survived by: his former wife Sandra Sowles; his children, Machelle Mujica of Garden City, Shelly Bownes of Hoisington, Lorrie High of Washington, Pennslyvania, Bonnie Brungardt of Hoisington, Cindy Anderson of Hoisington and Clayton "Lee" Spires, Jr. of Wichita; and his siblings, William "Bill" Spires of Centennial and Shirley Juby of Gillette, Wyoming. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
