He was predeceased by: his parents, Leah Hamm (Schuber) and Bill Hamm; his siblings-in-law, Paul Pankratz, Oliver Mohn, Evan Wendt and Ida Mae Wendt; his nieces and nephews, Steve Wendt, Bob Haug, Sherilyn Kadel (Pankratz) and Jacquie Sjodahl (Wendt); and his great-nephew Chirstopher Mohn.
He is survived by: his children, James Gaylord Hamm (Myrna) of Tampa, Bonnie Jean Winter (Larry) of Silver Lake and Barbara Fay Williams (Ron) of Glenpool, Oklahoma; his wife Valera Hamm of Durham; his siblings, Arlene Pankratz of Hillsboro, Marcella Mohn of Hillsboro and Gus Hamm (Mildred) of Hillsboro; his grandchildren, Pat Winter, Ginger Robert (Matt), April Conner (Thad), Deron Williams, Brian Williams, Sara Goldsby, Lucas Hamm (Amber) and Morganne Sobba (Adam); and his great grandchildren, Madison Swann (Mason), Parker Winter, Mercedes Williams, Portlynn Williams, Carter Robert, Kaden Goldsby, MacKenzie Goldsby, Jaxson Hamm and Brooks Hamm. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the Durham Baptist Church.
