He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald "Shorty" Shafer and Darlene Shafer (Norton); and his wife Sandra Fleagle. He is survived by: his sons, Leroy Ward of Powhattan, KS, Scott Davis (Teresa) of Hiawatha and Jacob Shafer (Sherry) of Hiawatha; his brothers, Lynn "Rocky" of Falls City and Donnie Shafer (Wanda Specht) of Falls City; his grandchildren, Jenny, Destiny Matthew (James), Tyler, Mavrik, Mariah and Maddison; and his great grandchild Eliana.
